New-to-Me Author Summer Bingo UPDATE

My blogger friend Jessica over at Reading with Jessica has set up a summer bingo challenge with Jana at Artsy Reader Girl. I am going to attempt to play along this summer. I’ll update you with how I’m doing periodically.

NEW-TO-ME AUTHOR SUMMER BINGO

The Basics:

  • This event lasts from June 1st-August 31st.
  • You can only count books towards the bingo card if you have not read that author before.
  • Each book only counts for one bingo spot. You can’t use one book for multiple spots.
  • A bingo can be horizontal, vertical, or diagonal.
  • Feel free to use any genre for this challenge. Multiple genres even!
  • Use the hashtag #nasbingo to share updates on social media/blog posts.

My TBR:

Over 400 pages long:
✓ Features a vacation: Vegas Love by Jillian Dodd
First in a series: The Hook Up (Game On, #1) by Kristen Callihan

I’ve almost got a Bingo! 4 down and 1 more to go! Now, I just need to find a new-to-me author with a book over 400 pages long.

  1. You’re so close! I’ll try to think of a good recommendation for you for a book over 400 pages. I generally try to keep my page number under that, though, haha. I don’t like long books!

    1. Ok, I have thought of a couple recommendations for the 400 pages option. Have you read Karin Slaughter? Triptych is the first book in her Will Trent series. It’s been so long since I read it that I don’t really remember anything about it, but it’s a good series. The Apothecary’s Daughter by Julie Klassen. It’s Historical Fiction – technically I think it’s considered Christian Fiction, but I don’t remember it being preachy at all. It’s a Friends-to-More story that was one of my favorites years ago (and it’s on KU). Have you tried Zara Stoneley yet? You might like Bridesmaids. And lastly, The Royal We by Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan. 🙂

      1. I don’t know how it happened, but this somehow ended up in my Trash. 🙁 I haven’t read any of these authors, so maybe I can still get one of them read. I did want to read that Bridesmaids book…

  2. You’re so close already!! I didn’t even think about checking mine off to see how close I was to a bingo. I’ll have to do that at the end of this month.

    1. Yeah, I’m only doing one row/column to start with. I might add extras. We’ll see…
      Thanks!

  3. Do you like sci-fi with romance? I loved Rules of Redemption by T.A. White it’s over 400 pages 😀

Or have you read anything by Lucy Score yet? Nora Roberts Under Current is over 400 too. Ilona Andrews? Her romance/fantasy series has books with 400 pages. Mr. Perfect by Linda Howard works too – lol.

    1. I think I might have to try that Linda Howard one. Or at least look it up. I have read too many NR for her to count and I did read one Ilona Andrews and Lucy Score, too. Thanks for the recommendations!

      1. I knew you would have been reading some of them. But good luck! And let me know if the Linda Howard worked for you.

        1. I will! I should let you know that I read and loved Worth the Fall! I’m on book 3 now.
